S.1 News Articles on Natural Disasters






S. 1 students are preparing a class newsletter on Natural Disasters. Each student is responsible for one article. They are researching on different natural disasters: hurricane, earthquakes, tsunamis, tornado, etc. in the library. Special collection of books on Natural Disasters have been prepared for them to use for their research. And for those who like to use online resources, links to educational sites suitable for their level are put in the weblinks section on the School Library at the eclass with this path My eClass --> 0506-C006- School Library (T) --> Web Links --> Natural Disasters

Research Skills Workshop-April 21


A group of parents attended the Research Skills Workshop on April 21 to learn about the Big 6 Research Model, which is a popular model adopted by many schools worldwide to solve information problems.
This is the model the S.1-3 students have learned in the library program. The 6 stages in the model cover the whole process of research from defining the task to finally presenting the solution in the format required.

Readathon 2007 Results




On behalf of the Readathon Committee, I would like to extend a big thank you to all parents and teachers for your support to make this year Readathon a meaningful and fun event for our students to enjoy.

More than 130 students from S.1-4 have reached their individual pledge goal, i.e. having read for more than 600 minutes in the month of February. These students have been been awarded with the Readathon Certificates. The namelist of these award winners is posted on the bulletin board outside the library.

Among these students, the following students have read the highest no. of pages by form, and they are awarded with a special Readathon Certificate and a book prize in the Assembly.

The Book Report of the Month

這本書是說一位少女作家林潚潚為了尋找《他約我去迪士尼》小說的創作靈感,混入了香港迪士尼樂園做賣小食的員工。可惜她在迪士尼工作幾天後,便覺得非常沉悶和辛苦,所以她想放棄再留在這裡找靈感。就在這時,她遇到一個她很討厭的男孩—陳宇軒。陳宇軒求林潚潚給他一天的時間,就可以令她改變初衷,繼續留在迪士尼工作。陳宇軒說可以令到林潚潚改變初衷的地方就是他們日日都置身當中的迪士尼樂園。陳宇軒說雖然他們每天也在迪士尼樂園,但又何嘗試過與卡通人物合照或玩機動遊戲。他又說每個迪士尼樂園員工也可以為遊客帶來一個開心的回憶。就憑這一句話,令林潚潚決定繼續留在迪士尼工作並且找到了她的創作靈感。然而,林潚潚發現了自己愛上了陳宇軒時,不幸地,陳宇軒在這時說要回美國,當林潚潚正在回味她與陳宇軒一起的時候,陳宇軒竟出現在她面前。最終他們亦能為這本《他約我去迪士尼》畫上一個完美的結局。

《他約我去迪士尼》中的主角是一個女孩子,但在書中封面寫的作者麥曉帆是一個男孩子。原來作者運用了「故事入面再有故事」的寫作手法,真是奇妙。現在想起也很回味無窮呢!還有,當我看到故事末端時,我以為這已是故事的終結,但原來在後面還有一個更美滿的結果,所以我非常欣賞麥曉帆的寫作。我一定會將這本書推介給我的朋友!
